Bianca di Angelo - Save the Earth Application
OOC Information:
Name: Ryuuto
Are you over 15? Yep!
Contact: PM this account or my Plurk (redknightdistrict)
Current characters in the game: N/A
IC Information:
Name: Reincarnation - Maria Bellance Angelus, Preincarnation - Bianca di Angelo
Canon and medium: Percy Jackson and the Olympians/Heroes of Olympus, book series
Age: Reincarnation - 16, Preincarnation - 12
Preincarnation Species: Demigod
Preincarnation Appearance: Like this, PB is Vanessa Marano
Any differences: The most significant difference is that Bianca will be 16 rather than 12. Her skin is a darker olive tone after being active in the sun, which will also make the freckles across her nose stand out a bit more. She'll be average height and weight for her age as well.
Starting Location: Las Vegas, NV, USA
Preincarnated History: Bianca had been born in the 1930's to Maria di Angelo and the Greek god of the dead, Hades. Approximately two years after her birth, her little brother was born from that same coupling. Life had been fairly peaceful for the di Angelo family until World War II started. Maria and her children fled to the United States to escape being caught up in the war, finding a new life in Washington, DC. It was near the end of the World War that once more a wrench was thrown into their life. The Big Three--Zeus, Poseidon, and Hades--had made a solemn vow on the River Styx to never have children again because of a prophecy for one of their children. Hades had been given an ultimatum: send his remaining children to camp or to Mount Olympus. He refused both options, and had gone to Maria to discuss the situation. Maria couldn't believe that Zeus would kill their children, and was firm in denying her children to be raised in the Underworld.
On that fateful night, Maria di Angelo died, murdered by a lightning strike sent from Zeus. Hades only had time to protect Bianca and Nico, and in the aftermath, he sent the children to the Lotus Hotel after having their memory of that event erased in the River Lethe. 70 years past by in what to them felt like a month. At that time, Alecto got them out of the hotel and sent them to a military school. The two siblings had adjusted to modern times very quickly, most likely because the Hotel had technology and other things from all eras, including modern day things.
During the winter dance at the school, Nico and Bianca had almost been sent to join Luke Castellan's army. This army was working for the evil Titan Lord, Kronos, who was bent on destroying the gods and reclaiming his supposed rightful place as ruler of the world, along with the other Titans. Percy Jackson, son of Poseidon, had been able to prevent that, along with Grover the Satyr, Thalia, daughter of Zeus, and Annabeth, daughter of Athena. Despite that, it had looked as if the manticore that had originally taken the di Angelos was going to win. It was the timely arrival of the Hunters of Artemis, kickass handmaidens to the Goddess of the Hunt, that prevented loss of life. Unfortunately, it had resulted in Annabeth's capture instead.
After everything was explained, Bianca, instead of going to Camp Half-Blood, agreed to join the Hunters of Artemis. Artemis then ordered her Hunters to go to Camp until further notice, as she sensed an enemy that she had not sensed in a long time. She went on the hunt for this enemy and wouldn't allow her maidens to go with her. Yet, this was not to be. It was at Camp that they soon received a prophecy, and the Lieutenant of Artemis, Zoe Nightshade, was to be the leader of the quest. She, Thalia, Bianca, and Grover went out on the quest to find Artemis and Annabeth. Percy managed to tag along and convinced the group to take him, too.
Things were going somewhat smoothly, at least until they reached one of Hephaestus' junkyards. It was a place full of things that the God of Blacksmiths had discarded. They were warned to never take anything from the junkyard, so what did Bianca do? She took a Hades figurine for a popular game called Mythomagic for her brother. That woke up the guardian of the junkyard, Talos, who was a bronze metal giant and set to kill them for doing that. Well, Bianca wasn't going to let Talos kill them, and neither was she going to give up the figurine. She gave it to Percy, made him promise to keep Nico safe, and then essentially sacrificed herself to save the group and ensure that the quest would end mostly happily.
Yet, death wasn't necessarily the end to her being able to communicate to others. She sent two IM's to Percy to inform him of her brother's plan to trade a soul for hers, and that the advice he was getting was from King Minos, who held a grudge against Daedalus for everything that happened during the story of the Labyrinth. It was when Percy, Nico, and Annabeth summoned her spirit at a ranch that Bianca showed herself. She told Nico that it was because she'd hoped that he'd give up if she didn't speak to him, and also told him to let go of his grudge on Percy. The person he was angry at was herself for dying and abandoning him. The next time she appeared, she tried to prevent her brother from seeing the memory of their mother's death. Nico was forbidden from summoning the ghost of Maria, which was why he received the memory instead.
Some time after the end of the Titan War, Bianca chose to be reborn instead of staying in Elysium.
Reincarnated History: Maria was adopted into a fairly well-off family at the age of two. She never knew her birth parents, but didn't really care as she loved her adopted family with all her heart. She'd always been active, and a little lonely since she didn't have any brothers or sisters. For most of her life, she'd interacted with adults far more than she had children her own age. Maria had often been looked up to in her circle of friends as a big sister figure, since she tended to act like one. Some kids had tried to bully her, but they quickly learned that it wasn't a good idea. Maria had no tolerance for bullying and firmly put her foot down on that nonsense. Her love of archery had only made her tougher to deal with in a fight.
As far as academics were concerned, she did very well, not getting anything below a C. Maria excelled in History and Physical Education, however, and had been put in advanced courses for those two when she got into Freshman year. Now in her Junior year of high school, she was thinking about career options and what college to go to. Maria was waffling between more than a few different degree paths she'd like to pursue, and was having a hard time narrowing them down. All she really knew was that she had a passion for archery, but she had no desire to use it as a career path.
First Echo: Maria had her first Echo when she was twelve. Her parents had taken her to an archery range because she'd asked to have lessons. While her instructor was teaching them proper form, Maria had done it like she'd been doing archery her whole life. It quickly became apparent that she wouldn't need lessons as she knew everything the instructor could possibly teach her, and with incredible precision and accuracy.
Preincarnation Personality: Bianca is a girl who's shy and quiet around people she doesn't know. When Percy first meets her, she hides her face partially with a green hat, and she uses her long hair to hide behind, too. It's not until she joins the Hunters of Artemis that she starts showing her face, and feels like she belongs. A place among girls who treat her with genuine warmth and friendliness, and something that Bianca can safely call "hers" and only "hers."
She does have a skeptical side. When first learning about Greek myths being real, she's pretty sure that everyone around her has lost their ever loving mind. It's not until Artemis talks to her that Bianca starts to believe that it's all true. She likes having facts and knowing what she's getting into. For Bianca, it's better to make an informed decision about something that will potentially change life as she knows it. The best example of this is that the moment she learns of both Camp Half-Blood and the Hunters of Artemis, she questions both of them on what life is like, and if there's a catch in the case of the Hunters.
Bianca loves her brother very much. Nico means a lot to her. She risks the quest to find Annabeth just to get him a figurine that he really wanted to have. At the same time, she's very protective of him. She wants more than anything for her brother to be safe. This is shown strongly when she tries to prevent him from seeing the truth of their mother's death, afraid that he'll form another grudge.
There's a certain maturity about her despite her age. When it comes to decision making, Bianca makes sure she has all the facts before choosing. For example, she decides to sacrifice herself so that Percy, Thalia, and Zoe can get out of Hephaestus' junkyard alive. Once a decision is set in her mind, it's difficult, if not impossible, to sway her from the path she chooses. She doesn't regret her choices, even though one of them led to her death. She tends to repay her debts, or what she considers a debt. Going on the quest to save Annabeth is, to her, how she feels she should repay Percy and them for trying to rescue her and Nico.
She's a very brave girl on top of this. She dares to question her would-be kidnapper, even though she must be scared out of her mind at seeing a monster for the first time. Bianca is even prepared to fight the creature, despite a lack of training. Also, if she thinks someone is crazy, then she's more than likely to say so and to their face.
Bianca has two big motivators in her life. One is that she does things for herself. This doesn't necessarily mean that she's selfish. It's more that she wants something inherently hers, and not something that she has to share with Nico. The Hunters of Artemis is a great example of this. Joining them to be free of the responsibility of raising her brother all on her own is a great motivator and incentive to become one of them. The other motivator in her life is Nico. He's her only blood relative, and she does genuinely want him to be happy. It's why she hesitates at first when the Hunters offer her to be included in their ranks.
Any differences:
1. Maria is not as shy as Bianca is. While not super social, she has no problems walking up to strangers and making friends with them instead of letting them come to her.
2. She's very much into fantasy RPG's, trading cards, and tabletop games. She enjoys participating in them, though she's not competitive. Maria prefers being a casual gamer rather than being hardcore about it.
3. Maria isn't as skeptical when it comes to things like ghosts and other supernatural entities existing. She's more willing to accept that they're real, and is fascinated by the unexplainable.
Abilities: As a demigod, she has some natural abilities from her heritage. Bianca has dyslexia because her brain is hardwired to read Ancient Greek, though she knows English and Italian as well due to her mortal mother teaching her both languages. She also has ADHD, which is caused by her battle instincts. Her ADHD keeps her alive in battle and heightens her reflexes.
Bianca took an oath to Artemis to be one of her Hunters, or a handmaiden to the goddess, but in exchange she vowed to never fall in love. Honoring this oath will grant her certain abilities because of this. She becomes partially immortal. Bianca will never grow old or get sick, but she can die either in battle or by falling in love. In addition, she gains an incredible increase in speed, accuracy, and strength. She has a proficiency in utilizing bows and hunting knives. Not only that, but she can summon her bow and arrows to her whenever she needs them. Her accuracy and range with a bow is on par with the goddess herself. Bianca also gains an instinct for other hunting skills, such as tracking and trap-setting. The last ability she gains as a Hunter of Artemis is the ability to talk to animals, but she has better communication with wolves. All of these are blessings Artemis grants her maidens.
While a child of Hades, Bianca's abilities don't manifest as she dies before fully realizing her potential. She can certainly affect the dead, as seen in canon when she slays the spartoi while the others can't.
Roleplay Sample - Third Person:
Maria took a deep breath and let it out slowly, forcing herself to relax. She was about to do something she hadn't honestly been practicing until now. Her archery skills were currently beyond what her teachers could instruct her in, and she was getting very bored with just standing and shooting at targets. Maria had taught herself how to sneak up on game animals without them noticing her, which took a lot of trial-and-error on her part. Now, though, she was interested in a new type of challenge.
Aiming and shooting while running.
In theory, it was possible! She'd always wanted to be like those elf archers with the stupid amazing accuracy, taking down enemies while on the run. Plus, if Maria could master that kind of skill, then she felt she'd be more at ease. With all the weird things happening, she felt that she needed to be prepared, though she wasn't sure what for. Her mind had been made up about a week ago anyway, and she was still trying to nail down how to do it. It was slow and frustrating work, but Maria was determined to master that skill.
Maria took another deep breath, knocked an arrow, and started her routine. She started simple. Moving horizontally between the targets until she could at least do that much. She planned on taking it one small step at a time before getting to the more difficult movements. Once Maria had emptied her quiver, she surveyed the results. Most of the arrows had flown off-target, but now there were a handful that hit the targets. Maybe not a bullseye, but it was progress. Yesterday, she'd only gotten several arrows by the end of the day hitting the targets.
She grinned as she jogged over to retrieve her arrows. Progress was definitely good. Whatever she was doing, it was obviously right and only getting better. After gathering them all up again, Maria started setting up to do it again, and keep doing it until she was called in for dinner. She couldn't wait to tell her parents the progress she was making!
Roleplay Sample - Network:
[Maria is frowning as she addresses the network.]
So...I've got a question for you guys, and this is probably way more reliable than Google. I mean, I'm getting it from the source and all, and I actually know I'm getting something from a person and not a bot that's trying to give my laptop a virus. Been there, done that, got the t-shirt and a reboot to my poor computer.
[She brushes her hair behind her ear.]
The whole thing about there being weird stuff happening--like, I dunno, pink lights where there shouldn't be? Is that normal with us or is that as abnormal to you as it sounds to...everyone else? I mean, I know that Las Vegas is totally up there on unusual and flashing lights, buuuuut...when you're nowhere near neon that's bright pink, it's kinda weird.
[The teen smiles a little.]
Oh, and, uh, my name's Maria Angelus. Nice to meet you crazy people!
Any Questions? How much wood could a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck Norris?
